The last couple of days have included trips to a Gothic cathedral and chapel.
The first was Chartres Cathedral, which is about 80kms out of Paris. I caught the train- snow was falling as Chartres came into view. If you haven't visited Chartres, recommend it to you- it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. I had a brilliant day and was able to tick the box on a dream to visit and walk its sacred labyrinth.
The other shots are of St Chapelle, located in the heart of Paris. St Chapelle was built around the same time as Chartres- approx 1250 AD. Lots of WOW moments there as well.
The admission for St Chapelle included a 2 for 1 ticket coupon for the adjacent building called La Conciergerie, the prison and beheading site for 2600 citizens during The French Revolution.
The final 2 shots are of La Conciergerie Chapel and the macabre cell where Marie Antoinette spent her final hours before she met with the guillotine.
Churches and prisons ...... I can hear Sami and Jackson discussing whether their mother will EVER get a wild life.....she is in Paris after all!!!! .... I promise some shopping and after-dark shots VERY soon.....
